What are e-sims? Why are they needed?
E-sims are virtual sim cards that allow someone to access the internet via mobile device. In Gaza, currently they are the ONLY way to stay connected because of the telecommunications blackout. They are a crucial tool for the Palestinian people to share with the world about the genocide being committed.

My experience:
I’ve been watching the dire situation play out in Gaza for months and it’s easy to feel despair about the state of the world, and our so-called “leaders” lack of care for human life.
I bought an e-sim, and when it was activated and used, it sparked such a feeling of hope. If someone is using the sim, that means they are alive! That means my little bit of money is helping a real live human being on the other side of the world. I will never know who they are, but this is helping them to stay in contact with family, share their story, maybe make plans to get themselves to safety? ANYTHING helps.
At one point, one of my sims was being used at such a rapid rate, I felt I couldn’t afford to keep up with it, but I didn’t want to leave the person stranded, so I asked around and a friend agreed to help me keep it online. There are ways to do this, even when you have limited funds…
I’m nurturing 2 sim cards, and to borrow someone else’s metaphor, it really is like nurturing a plant. I check on the sim cards often, making sure they still have enough data, topping them off when necessary (watering), and watching them grow (the GB being used up). Every GB of use is someone still alive and that’s something to be hopeful for!
I hope this sheds some light on E-sims and how they can be used to help this awful situation perpetrated by the US and Israel against the people of Palestine.
I highly recommend buying e-sims for anyone who is struggling with tangible ways to help, and for anyone who is struggling with having hope.
I encourage everyone to do SOMETHING, whether buying an e-sim, contributing to a Palestinian family’s fundraiser, calling your elected officials, and talking to your people about the genocide. Don’t forget that it’s happening and don’t forget that our tax dollars are funding it! This is OUR problem!
